From enquiry through to completion, Taylor Lane is with you every step of the way.  We pride ourselves on our relationships and long-standing partnerships with builders, developers, contractors, housing associations and self-builders.

Your Taylor Lane journey will often start with our business development and sales team before your project is handed over to our estimating department for pricing.  Once the contract has been agreed, designers in our in-house drawing office take up the reins – turning the architectural drawings into timber frame plans.  As a Taylor Lane customer, you will be under the guidance of our contracts team – supported by our project and contracts managers throughout the process (erection only).  With 50,000 sqm of factory space over our six acre site, your kit will then be manufactured in our quality assured production facility before being delivered.

Business Development / Sales

Our senior business development manager, Wayne Ricketts heads up our sales department.  Wayne and his team liaise closely with existing clients who are heading up new projects, as well as building relationships with potential clients.

Projects range from self builds, up to large care homes and housing developments all over the UK.  We can also ship our kits to Europe, and have supplied several bespoke kits to customers in France and Jersey.

Padraig Hurley, our selfbuild manager, looks after those wishing to build their dream home, or who are building a one-off house to sell on.  He can guide you through the process, offering his expert advice along the way, should you need it.


From conception to development, our estimating team mediate between sales, technical and production staff to provide our clients with the best help and support we can offer. We deal with many large Housing Associations and healthcare development contracts as well as small developers and selfbuild projects. The estimators liaise with clients on a day to day basis, giving competitive fixed prices, fully specified quotations from architectural drawings and finding the best and most cost-effective solutions to many technical queries.

Design Office

The design office has multi-skilled timber frame designers who also specialise in engineered wood products and steel frame design.  We are committed to a continuous improvement programme and employ several apprentice and trainee designers.

Using MiTek software which links directly to the saws in our factories, plans are produced from architectural drawings that are ideally 1:50 scale plans, elevations, and sections.  The most successful jobs are those where the architect designs to timber frame and has a clear understanding of how timber frame works.

The contracts department deals with all contracts and any project issues.  Headed up by senior contracts manager, Paul Harris, the contracts team arranges and coordinates pre-start meetings, health & safety, erectors’ contracts and crane/forklift method statements.

The contracts managers travel to sites where Taylor Lane is contracted to erect.  They monitor the progress and quality of the timber frame and erectors’ workmanship, as well as deal with site issues.  Every project is supported by a project manager, in addition to the contracts managers.

The contracts department is also responsible for the daily delivery program, relating to the timber frame kits, and the administration staff will liaise with erectors on behalf of the client.

We have five appointed persons in the contracts department and several NEBOSH certified personnel.  All are CSCS registered.  Every erecting team has a Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) approved supervisor.


Our production department is split into several divisions.

The factories total an area covering 50,000 sqm over a six acre site.  We employ around 90 skilled operatives who work a day and night shift to keep the factory running to its maximum potential.  We have a software link set up between the design office and factories for the efficient production of accurate and high-quality timber frame products.

In addition to the timber frame kit, engineered wood products, roof trusses and steel fabrication are available.  We also offer joinery and finishing products to complement your build.
