As part of our drive towards eventually becoming a net zero company, earlier this year, we applied for a grant from the Herefordshire Council. The grant would provide us with 3 bikes – one for each of our sites on the Rotherwas Industrial Estate in Hereford. Happily we were successful!
As part of our journey towards net zero, we have employed, and continue to put in place, many tactics. Some of the measures we have taken include solar panels on the roof of our head office, more energy-efficient lighting, and an extensive recycling programme.
Yet, daily, several short car journeys were being made between the sites. With every trip taken, our carbon footprint grew. This was something we wanted to change. As a result, each site now has use of a bike (and of course, helmets!), and the number of car journeys has significantly decreased.
But the positive effects don’t stop there. Employee, Chris Smith (pictured), is very happy with the boost to his mental health and his looser-fitting clothing!
