Taylor Lane & Oakwrights Call for Food Bank Donations
We have joined forces with oak frame specialist, Oakwrights to urge companies to join us in providing stocking fillers and hamper supplies for Hereford Food Bank, this Christmas.
We are asking staff to bring in gifts or to make a donation and are encouraging other businesses in Hereford to do the same.
Contactless drop-off points are available at our premises on Rotherwas Industrial Estate, and Oakwrights in Swainshill; collection can also be arranged. This will minimise disruption to the food bank who are having to limit visitors due to the restrictions.
What to donate
The food bank requests gifts for Christmas stockings and hampers including, chocolate coins and non-perishable festive foods e.g. Christmas pudding, fruit cake, preserves, assorted nuts and boxes of biscuits.
Vouchers for local independent retailers and supermarkets are also welcome, alongside cash donations which can be ring-fenced for food. These will be used by the food bank to purchase additional perishable items for the hampers, including joints of meat, vegetarian/vegan alternatives, and vegetables. The hampers and stockings will be prepared by a group of volunteers working in a bubble.
Due to the time needed to fill the stockings and build the Christmas food parcels, all donations must be deposited at either location by 12-noon on Friday 20th November.
Why get involved?
Lisa O’Neil, HR manager for Taylor Lane Timber Frame says: “Food banks are facing unprecedented demand, in fact many people used a food bank for the first time in lockdown. This is putting extraordinary pressure on these voluntary services.
“This is not a normal year and we must do all we can to help those who are struggling to escape from the worries of the year over the festive period. Families with children have been hardest hit during the pandemic and we hope to make a difference, even if just for one day.”
“We can’t bear the thought of families not having enough to eat, and children going without a Christmas stocking. So, let’s make a special effort to share a little Christmas cheer to those in need,” adds Bill Keir, Director (Operations and Commercial) at Oakwrights.
To arrange a contactless, COVID-safe drop-off at either the premises of Taylor Lane Timber Frame (HR2 6LD) or Oakwrights (HR4 7PU), please contact Lisa O’Neil on 07415 865 858 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Deadline for drop-offs is 12-noon on Friday 20th November.
