River Cottage, Worcestershire
Having a substantially sized garden meant Edmund could use this land to build his dream home on, allowing him to sell his current house.
Researching the various build options available to him, Edmund decided that Timber Frame would be best for him for a number of reasons. A friend of his had recently built using Timber Frame and Edmund was impressed with the fact that it went from start of erection to being waterproof within 8 days. As well as this, there was a lot of media coverage highlighting the environmental and general benefits and values of Timber Frame.
Having made the decision to build using Timber Frame, Edmund next set about deciding on the supplier he wanted to work with. He first began searching nationally via the Internet before doing a more local search and short-listing a number of companies for him to visit. He said of his visit:
‘I visited a number of companies, one of which was Taylor Lane, and I met with Padraig (Taylor Lane’s Self Build Manager). I was very impressed, especially with Padraig, who really sold Taylor Lane to me.’
When asked about any problems that arose during the build, Edmund said:
‘There were problems, as you would expect on a new build, most of which were caused by the architect or myself, and were dealt with by Taylor Lane and solved. Taylor Lane’s attention to detail and customer service were second to none.’
Edmund found the entire experience very rewarding and has even started looking for another plot of land on which to build, this time with the intention of selling it on. He says that his wanting to repeat the process is thanks to Taylor Lane making the first project so easy thanks to the knowledgeable and skilled staff who present a very professional company.
