Studies Catherine Court, Hereford: South Shropshire Housing Association. The site lies north of the historic city centre of Hereford in a priority investment area. It was formerly home to the Brooks Bottled Drinks Works factory complex – a three storey office block and a single storey warehouse. The scheme has been part conversion and part new build, comprising twenty two homes in total – nineteen homes for affordable rent and three for shared ownership. The development contributes towards the critical shortage of affordable, good quality, inner city housing within Hereford. The redevelopment of the site revitalizes the local environment, regenerating an industrial site back into use at a cost that is affordable. The homes are of good design and quality, built to cope with the increasing pressures placed on the provision of housing by the consumer. The design ethos, centered on a courtyard, provides a sense of community and security. Back to Case Studies |
