  Benefits of Timber Frame

Below you will find a list of the benefits gained when choosing Taylor Lane Timber Frame.

Speedy Construction.
Time savings of 30% for a 2 storey house and 50% for 4 storey flats are typical. Timber frames can be erected and quickly made watertight in poor weather conditions that would halt the construction of a conventionally built structure.

Less Maintenance.
Timber frame is a dry construction method which helps to eliminate cracking of plasterboard. Lower maintenance in the first year after construction is a proven factor with volume house builders reporting a 75% saving on call-back costs after switching to timber frame. As timber frame is essentially a 'dry' form of construction, the long drying out period associated with 'wet' construction is avoided. Thereafter, costs are at least on a level with other forms of construction and some are lower than average. (Timber & Brick Fact file1)

Computer Aided Design and Manufacture.
Timber Frame is at the forefront of the IT revolution. With Timber Frame seam-less electronic interaction can take place. Starting with the architect drawing in a CAD package, drawings can be sent direct to the Timber Frame Designer. CAD/CAM is then used to take the building and strip it down into components for manufacture. Once the final design has been agreed, information is sent directly to CAM saws for cutting ready for assembly.

Accurate Construction.
Factory pre-fabricated panels are made in a controlled environment. A tolerance of +/- 5mm is enforced to ensure a smooth running accurate project.

Thermally Efficient.
Timber frame easily exceeds current Building Regulation requirements without any filling of the cavity and the prospective problems this brings.

Environmentally Friendly.
The timber used comes from managed coniferous forests of mainly Scandinavia, North America and Britain. This is a sustainable resource and generally more trees are planted than are cut down. Also the thermal properties which result in a reduction of heating bills and carbon emissions are environmental advantages.

Trade Preference for Services.
Timber frame construction allows for the easy concealment of wires and pipes resulting in a neater finish to the buildings. Services can be easily accommodated in the floor zone when Posi-Joist floors are utilised.
